Schedule: 44 hours/week; typical shifts are Monday Friday, 8 hour days in winter and 10-12 hour days in summer; some extended hours and/or weekends may be required to meet operational needs

Wage:  $29.03 to $34.65 per hour

The Public Works department is looking for a permanent, full-time versatile Heavy Equipment Operator to operate a grader and support dust control functions out of our West Beaverlodge Shop. The successful candidate will have the ability to perform finishing work, as well as snow removal. This position may be called upon to operate additional pieces of heavy equipment such as; hoes, trucks, Cats, and may also be called on to undertake general labour duties on an as needed basis.

The ideal candidate will possess the following education, experience, knowledge and skills:

  • Minimum valid class 5 Driver's License is required; Class 1 or 3 an asset;
  • Acceptable driver's abstract;
  • Physically capable of undertaking general labour (such as power saw work, sign replacement);
  • Ability to undertake maintenance and repairs as required;
  • Ability to perform daily maintenance: climbing up and down machine to fuel and service; change blades as required, unbolt and remove worn blades and replace with new Note:  new blades weight approximately 50 to 80 lbs;
  • Ability to interact with residents and members of the public in a courteous and respectful manner;
  • Must be willing to undertake training in order to meet operational requirements;
  • Must be willing to complete labour tasks and other related duties as assigned;
  • Ability to sit in the machine for extended periods of time;
  • Ability to work overtime when required;
  • Ability to work independently;
  • Ability to complete paperwork and keep records of road
