We are looking for a creative and energetic individual with exceptional customer service and leadership skills, who has knowledge of, and experience working with playschool children. This temporary position will work 2 afternoons per week in La Glace on Mondays and Wednesdays until June 2023. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Providing opportunities for children ages 3 - 4 years to engage in play centered activities
  • Facilitating social interaction opportunities for the children
  • Role-modelling healthy interactions using evidence-based practices
  • Providing information and resources to caregivers
  • Planning playschool social/recreational activities that enhance children's developmental skills
  • Maintaining a clean and safe work/play environment
  • Implementing safety standards in children's activities and child monitoring
  • Leading/assisting in emergency situations
  • Organizing field trips for children
  • Meeting/discussing children's progress with parents/guardians
  • Providing quality customer service to external clients and internal staff.

The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, patient and have a love of children. You will also possess:

  • An Early Childhood Diploma; Level 3 ECE - Level 2 Minimum
  • Valid class 5 license with an acceptable driver's abstract
  • Reliable vehicle to be used for work purposes (team meetings, etc.)
  • Experience working with groups of children
  • Experience working with parent/caregivers
  • CPR/First Aid with AED Certificate
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to use tact, diplomacy, and mature judgment
  • The ability to provide safe and effective child development activities while monitoring/supervising
  • Good organizational and communication skills
  • Satisfactory Criminal Records and Child Welfare background checks.

This position starts end of August/early September 2022 and runs until June 2023.
